My camera takes rechargeable batteries. It has been a painful search finding a charger that will work overseas. Worse – I needed one that would work off of an automobile power port, as well as a solar charger. I bought a special dual voltage / USB battery charger that was very similar to the one that came with my original camera. The problem, of course, was that it was big, bulky, and heavy. On top of that, I had to carry a separate power cord for it. That increased the weight and bulk even more. Yuck.
One day I was introduced to the Lenmar PPUClip USB charger. It was truly a “Eureka, I’ve found it!” moment. This tiny device has turned out to be everything I was looking for. First, it is incredibly tiny. It is just a little larger than my thumb. Second, the movable prongs mean that it can charge a variety of batteries ranging from 3.6 – 3.7 volts. It can charge many phone, camcorder, and PDA batteries as well as camera batteries. This device is cordless – it plugs directly into any USB port. No cords mean a lot less weight.
I have used the PPUClip for over a year, and I’m really happy with it. My camera battery takes 2-4 hours to charge using a USB adapter plug. This device is available on-line for under $10 US. What a deal!
